Do or Don't: Skipping Christmas

Eric and I are seriously considering going away for Christmas this year, just the two of us. It could be the last opportunity we have, but we're a bit torn. I won't miss the travel, stress, and overeating, but I'm a bit worried we're going to wake up on Christmas morning and regret not seeing our nieces and nephews tear into their presents  Have you ever gone away for Christmas or spent it alone with your spouse? Was it amazing or a bit sad?

Just in case, I've booked us a room at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs with it's own private patio and fireplace. How cozy does that look?! The unopened confirmation email is taunting me from my inbox.

What to do, what to do...

  1. I would LOVE to go away for Christmas, I think this may be in the works for next year! Let me know how it works out for you two!

  2. I think it's a great idea - to at least try it once. Every year we feel so much pressure to see every family member, go to every party, etc. and at the end just wind up feeling like it was more of a hassle than ajoy. If you are sad about it (which you likely will be, have you ever missed it?), next Christmas will be that much better. You will have your own family soon enough and you won't be able to do it, so I say GO FOR IT!
