Backyard Dinner Party

We had beautiful weather this weekend so when we invited a couple of friends for dinner, I thought we'd take advantage of it by sitting outside. I set a table in the backyard and bought fresh fish from Catch. They tweet what's fresh each day and you can order it for that evening by calling the restaurant. I grabbed prawns and oysters for the appetizers and made Bon Appetit's Butter Basted Salmon with Hazelnut Relish for the main. We sat out drinking champagne and white wine until the sun went down.

It's nights like these that make summer so awesome.

Stampede City Sessions

Based on the same idea as Austin City Limits, Stampede City Sessions is a show filmed here in Calgary featuring up and coming bands. I only just heard about it, but I'm completely obsessed! It's such a great way to showcase new artists. You can read more about it in this Avenue Magazine article or check out who has appeared so far on the Stampede City Sessions Vimeo.

Speaking of Avenue, their Insiders Guide to Folk Fest is worth a read if you're heading down this weekend. Have a good one!

Trailers

Trailers for the movie adaptations of three of my favorite books have come out.

Both Wild and This is Where I Leave You will premier at the Toronto International film Festival this week. I'm looking forward to seeing both of them. Although the movie version of This is Where I Leave You seems a bit more light-hearted than the book, the cast is incredible!

The third is for Gone Girl which comes out in October.

Drift Accessories

At a Market Collective a couple of months ago, I saw the cutest bracelet ring at Drift Accessories. I had already bought a couple of other things, so even though I loved it, I walked away. I immediately regretted the decision and got in touch with designer Natalie and though she had sold the piece already, she agreed to make me a new one. It has quickly become my favorite way to add something fun to any outfit.

You can find out where Natalie will be selling her jewelry by visiting her Facebook page here.

Last Week

We spent last week travelling all over this lovely province of ours. Here's a little rundown of our adventures.

Pt. 1- Waterton
This was the first time I'd ever been to Waterton. What have I been doing with my life?! It's absolutely stunning and far less busy than Banff or Canmore. The original plan was to go camping with our friends at Bertha Bay, a campsite only accessible by boat or hike. However, the windy weather didn't cooperate and we couldn't get the boat across the lake. After a beer and some debate on what to do next, we decided to leave the park and set up camp closer to Pincher Creek. Even though things went a little sideways, we had an incredible time and the scenery was equally as gorgeous as in the park (with less of a bear threat to boot).
